Prescriptions
Prescription is the extension of Orders.
In the bustling wards and OPDs of Indian hospitals, writing safe prescriptions quickly is a daily challenge. Our Prescriptions module, built as a seamless extension of the Orders module, turns what used to be a time-consuming and error-prone task into a fast, intelligent, and completely paperless process that works flawlessly across languages and regulatory environments. When a doctor selects a medication order and marks it ‘For Patient’, the system instantly transforms it into a fully formatted e-prescription. The search experience is lightning-fast: type a brand name, generic molecule, or therapeutic class and choose from over 120,000 entries covering every Indian brand. Favorites, frequently prescribed lists, and hospital-specific formularies appear at the top for one-tap selection. Organisations can upload there own drug database also. Before the prescription is finalised, our embedded Clinical Decision Support engine runs comprehensive safety checks in real time. It scans for major and moderate drug-drug interactions using continuously updated cloud rules, cross-references the patient’s documented allergies and adverse reaction history, flags duplicate therapy from the same or similar class already active, automatically suggests renal or hepatic dose adjustments based on the latest creatinine clearance or liver function tests recorded in the timeline, and highlights pregnancy or lactation contraindications with clear warnings and safer alternatives. Doctors can accept, override with mandatory justification, or choose a different molecule - all without leaving the prescription screen. Multilingual support is native and effortless. The final prescription renders beautifully in English plus any of eleven Indian languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Assamese), pulling patient-preferred language from their profile. Brand names remain in English for accuracy while instructions, dosage, and duration appear in the chosen script using Unicode fonts that print and display correctly on every device. Patients receiving the prescription on WhatsApp or in the Patient App see it exactly as intended, reducing misunderstandings and improving adherence. Once the doctor applies their digital signature - fully compliant with India’s IT Act 2000 Schedule II e-sign standards and USA’s 21 CFR Part 11 requirements - the prescription becomes immutable. It can be printed on hospital letterhead with QR code for verification, emailed as a signed PDF, shared instantly via WhatsApp Business API with read receipts, or pushed directly to integrated pharmacy apps and dispensing software. Inpatient prescriptions flow automatically to the pharmacy, while OPD prescriptions include patient education leaflets in the selected language. Because prescriptions are simply specialised medication orders, every administration, refill request, or modification is tracked in the same real-time timeline. Pharmacists see active prescriptions alongside current stock levels, nurses record administration against the exact prescription line, and patients view their complete medicine list with timings and reminders inside the Patient App. Audit trails capture every view, share, and modification for medico-legal protection. From a quick antibiotic course in a rural clinic to complex polypharmacy management in a super-speciality ICU, the module ensures every prescription is safer than handwritten ones, faster than traditional software, and accessible to every patient regardless of the language they speak, all from the same intelligent platform.
